Shaved for Palestine

Second call to Shave our Heads Collectively October 7, 2025.

Video in English:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOSjeKUxjlM

We are fully aware that our destinies are intertwined with our sisters and brothers in Palestine.

We understand that their suffering concerns us all because their humanity is ours.

Using our body as a vehicle of protest, 77 women from 13 countries shave our heads of hair, hair so prized by patriarchy as a symbol of beauty and femininity, to demonstrate the dispossession that the Palestinian people suffer in their bodies and territories.

Fifty-five of us shaved our hair in front of the camera to generate videos that recount the barbarity of 76 years of Israeli occupation of Palestinian land.

Another thrirty-three  colleagues accompanied us in the editing process, content creation, translation, publications and distribution.

We generated, for the networks, fifty-five videos of historical denunounce that express that the current genocide does not date back 22 months, but is part of a Zionist machinery destined to colonize the territory of historical Palestine to establish an entity called Israel.

Since Israel was an idea, its ideologues openly expressed the use of force to displace the native inhabitants of the territory that was finally chosen for Israel. It was Palestine and that is why for more than 76 years the Palestinian people have suffered and resisted this violent and genocidal process of dispossession.

During 76 years of Israeli occupation, Palestinian women accumulate constant losses: thousands have been murdered, dismembered, their families have been taken from them, and they have seen their children die.

Many have suffered sexual abuse and arbitrary imprisonment. There are millions of people who have lost their homes, who have no way to feed their children or themselves.

In recent weeks, to the shame of humanity, more than 112 boys and girls have died of hunger due to the direct responsibility of Israel, which uses hunger as a weapon of war.

The worst thing is that the number is expected to increase by the day if we fail to press for an unconditional ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the immediate entry of humanitarian aid and the opening of border crossings.

It is unforgivable that life continues that same way on a daily basis and that the world does not stop to stop this genocide.

We have witnessed the destruction of hospitals with patients and medical staff inside, turning them into cemeteries.

We have seen the journalists who keep us informed of what is happening in Gaza die.

Sometimes our physical actions can convey what words cannot.

After more than a year of our Shaving for Palestine (Rapadas por Palestina), we have seen our hair grow, and with it our determination to confront the colonial discourses and logics that continue to intimidate the self-determination of the peoples of the world.

But we have also seen the growth of Israeli cruelty, the catastrophe and the complicit silence of the hegemonic media and the support of Western powers for Israel.

We have seen how this tremendous systemic evidence of dehumanization has not been punished; it has not been stopped, despite the fact that there are millions of us who demonstrate to put an end to the genocide.

That is why we are calling again for a collective shave on October 7, 2025. Last year we said: hair grows, a murdered boy and girl does not. This year our call strongly states:

There goes my hair, let them know that where they throw bombs, they plant seeds of resistance.
